Mother's Day Sunday May 10
Not sure what to get your mom? We have a variety of options, ranging from delicious Prosecco (Italian sparkling wine) to sweeter Moscato to BC fruit wines, outstanding red or white table wines or interesting liqueuers. We also offer a complimentary wrapping service for wines and bubblies, and have a variety of Mother's Day cards ranging from the cute to the humourous.
Here are a few recommendations that might help:
Prosecco:
Beato Bartolomeo Marzemino Prosecco.
Made from Prosecco and Marzemino grapes this bubbly is a salmon pink colour showing an intense nose of fresh fruit. It is fragrant and lively, with distinct hints of blue berries and cherries. On the palate it is well-balanced, crisp and velvety, with a slight almondy aftertaste.
Pergolo Prosecco is made by Mionetto and is simple and fresh with a hint of sweetness. It's grapey and floral with light tree fruit and citrus notes, spumante bubbles and classic--slightly bitter--Prosecco finish.
Spanish Cava:
Cordoniu Rose: This is made from Pinot Noir, and is a lovely pink colour with flavours of raspberry and cherry. Definitely dry, this is a wonderful food pairing bubbly (think salmon, chicken, cheeses, salads) or makes a beautiful cocktail when combined with just a hint of Giffard Muroise (Blackberry-Raspberry liqueur).
Champagne:
Veuve Clicquot Rose is made only in exceptional or vintage years, this wine has the same vintage structure as Vintage Veuve Clicquot, topped up with 10-15% red wine from the vineyard at Bouzy.
Vintage Rosé is deeply coloured, with a complex, refined fragrance mingling red fruit- cherries and strawberries- with very noble developing notes. When tasted, it reveals great structure and a remarkably long finish. The Rose goes well with spicy fish dishes, tuna sashimi, and fine meats. When mature, it is excellent with game birds.
Lanson Black Label Champagne is made from Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay.
It has a lovely fruity palate, a brilliant freshness and a fine, delicate mousse. The long and slow maturation process in cool cellars gives this champagne finesse and a smooth texture. Try with sushi, other seafood, chicken, cheeses or a variety of foods- it pairs well with most things!
BC Bubbly:
Elephant Island has just released their Pink Elephant bubbly, made of a Granny Smith apple cuvee with some of their Cassis added. This is a beautiful bright pink bubbly with flavours of apple, cherry and strawberry and a nice dry finish.
White Wine:
Cedar Creek Ehrenfelser-BC- fruit salad in a bottle! Perfect for spicy food, salads, cheeses, picnic or all by itself!
Protocolo Airen/Macabeo-Spain- flavours of peaches and nectarine with a bit of citrus and a hint of spice. Light and refreshing.
Red Wine:
Protocolo Tempranillo-Spain- lots of great berry flavour and a bit of leather in this smooth, medium bodied wine. Pairs well with roast chicken, steak and risotto or medium cheeses.
Misconduct Winery-BC- The Big Take- this is a blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Lots of plum, blackberry and raspberry with hints of chocolate. Delicious!

McAuslan Variety Pack
The St. Ambroise Pale Ale is Brasserie McAuslan's signature beer, first released in 1989. This Pale Ale is a hoppy, amber full flavoured ale with a crisp refreshing finish. Pair this one with spicy BBQ sausages, seafood or a game of horseshoes in the front yard on a hot sunny day.
The St. Ambroise Apricot Wheat Ale blends various barley malts with malted wheat and natural apricot essence to create an original-tasting beer with a clean, fruit nose, refreshing flavour and apricot finish. This beer has a bit of sweetness, but pairs deliciously with spicy Thai or Chinese food, BBQ Chicken or salads.
The Griffon Extra Pale Ale shows bright gold in colour, clean hop and malt flavour and a great "drinkability". This beer needs no food pairing, just a nice sunny day and an extended lawn cutting session. However, if you are yearniong to pair this with food, try it with earthy or nutty cheeses such as Fontina, Camembert, Asiago or Colby or with salads or chicken.
The Griffon Rousse is the Red Ale, a medium-bitter, mahogany-colored beer. Its nutty flavors are a result of crystal malt and a touch of roasted barley. This is your grilled hamburger or hot dog beer!!!
This mixed pack has something for everyone, making a great BBQ mixer as the beers all complement food and sunshine nicely.
