Recently found in the coldest beer fridges in town- that's right, Hillside Liquor Store has the fridges set at 2 degrees Celcius- is the Brasserie McAuslan Variety pack, a 12 pack of bottles of some of this Quebec brewery's best brews. This delicious mixed pack contain three bottles each of the St. Ambroise Apricot Wheat, the Griffon Extra Pale Ale, Griffon Rousse and the St. Ambroise Pale Ale.
The St. Ambroise Pale Ale is Brasserie McAuslan's signature beer, first released in 1989. This Pale Ale is a hoppy, amber full flavoured ale with a crisp refreshing finish. Pair this one with spicy BBQ sausages, seafood or a game of horseshoes in the front yard on a hot sunny day.
The St. Ambroise Apricot Wheat Ale blends various barley malts with malted wheat and natural apricot essence to create an original-tasting beer with a clean, fruit nose, refreshing flavour and apricot finish. This beer has a bit of sweetness, but pairs deliciously with spicy Thai or Chinese food, BBQ Chicken or salads.
The Griffon Extra Pale Ale shows bright gold in colour, clean hop and malt flavour and a great "drinkability". This beer needs no food pairing, just a nice sunny day and an extended lawn cutting session. However, if you are yearniong to pair this with food, try it with earthy or nutty cheeses such as Fontina, Camembert, Asiago or Colby or with salads or chicken.
The Griffon Rousse is the Red Ale, a medium-bitter, mahogany-colored beer. Its nutty flavors are a result of crystal malt and a touch of roasted barley. This is your grilled hamburger or hot dog beer!!!
This mixed pack has something for everyone, making a great BBQ mixer as the beers all complement food and sunshine nicely.
