Beringer Tasting Friday!

With just a week left until Christmas, Hillside Liquor Store is holding a different in-store tasting every day!

Friday December 18th bring Beringer wines from California, from 4-8 pm. The tasting will consist of the Stone Cellars Pinot Grigio, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Beringer winery has been around since 1876, when German native Jacob Beringer travelled to the USA to join his brother Frederick, who had settled in New York. However, Jacob didn't enjoy New York so he travelled west until he reached the Napa Valley, where he discovered soil conditions similar to his native Germany. His brother Frederick joined him, and together they founded Beringer Winery. Beringer Winery is the oldest continuously operated winery in the Napa Valley, and in 2001 was placed on the National Registry for Historic Places as a Historic District. Today, Beringer Winery makes an incredibly diverse range of wines from the everyday table wine to wines for the cellar.

The Stone Cellars Pinot Grigio showcases tropical, melon, honeysuckle and ruby grapefruit aromas and flavours and has a smooth mouth feel and body. Without being too flinty or austere, it carries just a hint of minerality and citrus to balance the core fruit.

The Stone Cellars Merlot shows wonderfully balanced and concentrated fruit, with aromas of ripe cherry and black fruits. The flavours are full of pure clean fruit: plum, blueberry and blackberry, enhanced by warm lingering spices on the finish.

The Stone Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon shows aromas and flavours of dark black fruits blackberry and cassis dominate. There are also some nice earthy undertones with hint of cedar and spice. This is a well-structured wine, with lots of bright fruit and moderate tannins.
